Dr. Malhotra is an expert in the field of corporate and strategic decision-making. His program of research centres on 3 themes and their intersections: strategic leadership, corporate strategy and performance, and gender diversity in top management teams. His research has been published widely on infamous and renowned platforms, including the Harvard Business Review and the Wall Street Journal. Other notable publications are present in Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice. The University of Waterloo recognized him for outstanding performance in 2019 and 2021 and for teaching excellence in 2017 and 2018.
